Thank you to Dr. Kawahara & Dr. Manese for a great MCEP seminar on multicultural supervision!


The UC Irvine Counseling Center values our interactions and collaborations with fellow mental health professionals.  As a service to the local mental health professionals community and for our continual professional development, we provide Mandatory Continuing Education for Psychologists (MCEP) courses from time to time.  Information about upcoming MCEPs will be updated on this page as it becomes available.

Recently Completed MCEPs     

On April 4, 2012 we hosted Dr. Ted Bonar, Psy.D. and Diana Sermanian, Psy.D. for a MCEP, "Service Members and Veterans on Campus." This core competency program was designed to address cultural and clinical concerns of service members and veterans on a university campus. The program presented a comprehensive overview of the experience of military-connected individuals, and includes day-to-day challenges, protective and risk factors, and treatment of behavioral health concerns on campus.

     

On December 15th, 2010, we hosted Dr. Jeanne E. Manese and Dr. William D. Parham doing the presentation "Mindful Awareness: Ethical Issues and Multicultural Supervision." This course is currently under review by the California Psychological Association MCEPAA for 4 hours of continuing education credits.

On September 22nd, 2010, we hosted The Help Group and their course "Identifying and Treating Young Adult's with Asperger's Disorder.                     

 

Counseling Center Referral Directory          

The Counseling Center maintains a database of community providers (psychotherapists, psychiatrists and community clinics) who can provide services to our students.  Therapists on our list must meet minimal qualifications, including but not limited to having active California licensure (i.e. clinical psychology, MFT or LCSW) and proof of malpractice insurance.

Therapists who are interested in being included in our database should send a copy/proof of their current malpractice insurance, current CV and completed Therapist Private Practice Referral Form. All materials should be mailed, faxed or emailed to the Counseling Center, attention to the Clinical Services Director:

Agencies that provide clinical services and are interested in being included in our database should download and complete a copy of the Agency Referral Form. The form can be mailed, faxed or emailed to the Counseling Center, attention to the Clinical Services Director noted above.

Psychiatrists who are interested in being included in our database can complete the Psychiatric Private Pratice Referral Form. The form can be mailed, faxed or emailed to the Counseling Center, attention to Yujuan Choy, M.D.

Submission of your information does not guarantee inclusion on our database. All submissions must be reviewed and approved by the UC Irvine Counseling Center Clinical Services Committee.
