The Counseling Center provides confidential, mental health services for undergraduate, graduate, and students in the professional schools (Business, Health Sciences, and Law Schools) who are currently enrolled as full time students. Since the Center is funded by registration fees, there are no additional charges for services. Services include crisis intervention/urgent care; initial appointments; individual, couple and family, counseling; group counseling; psychological assessment/testing; consultation and psycho-educational outreach activities, mental health screenings, workshops and peer programs. The professional staff includes doctoral level clinical and counseling psychologists, a licensed clinical social worker, and pre-doctoral-level psychology interns in the Center’s American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited internship training program. The Center is committed to a multicultural approach to treatment.

The Mental Health Clinic is a subspecialty clinic within the Student Health Center. Our Student Health Center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). The clinic provides psychiatric and psychotherapy services for undergraduate students who have USHIP insurance. Students who do not have USHIP insurance may be seen at SHC-MHC but must pay the full fees for service. The SHC-MHC provides psychiatric care (diagnostic assessment, management of psychotropic medications, and psychotherapy) by psychiatrists and senior psychiatric residents. Psychological therapies are also provided by doctoral-level clinical psychologists and licensed masters level mental health therapists. The Clinic provides urgent care/initial assessment appointments/crisis intervention, individual psychotherapy, psychological testing/assessment; and consultation.

CARE provides direct services and campus education for issues related to sexual assault, intimate partner violence, relationship health, and personal safety. CARE is funded by student registration fees and community contributions. All services are confidential and free of charge. Students can receive individual, couple’s, or group counseling related to issues of sexual violence and intimate partner violence. Consultation is available to all members of the campus community for concerns involving rape, sexual assault, relationship health, intimate partner violence, and gender issues. Psycho-educational programs are also provided to the campus community on these topics.

The Health Education Center provides an array of health education and consultation services and it is partially funded by student registration fees. The Health Education Center provides confidential, individual consultation about health issues such as alcohol and other drug use, tobacco cessation, sexual health, nutrition and eating disorders. Professional and student staff health educators provide workshops on topics related to health to the campus community. Students can also obtain anonymous HIV testing at the Health Education Center.
