Former Interns and their Post-Internship Positions

An Open Letter From the Interim Director of Training

Pat Alford-Keating, Ph.D.

Greetings!

Thank you for your interest in U.C. Irvine's APA-Accredited Predoctoral Internship Program. Our internship program has been accredited for more than twenty years.  We have built a time-tested solid and comprehensive training program. Our staff is very committed to the training program, and works closely with our interns providing individual supervision, group supervision, training seminars, and mentorship.

You can access general information about the UCI Counseling Center as well as descriptions of our staff’s professional interests by visiting our website at http://www.counseling.uci.edu/   Should you run into any access problems, please call Lucinda Kessler at (949) 824-3455.

We will utilize the APPIC system for the selection process.  Their website http://www.appic.org will provide important information on the internship notification process.  As an APPIC member, our internship program agrees to abide by the APPIC policy that no person(s) at this training facility will solicit, accept, or use any ranking related information from any intern applicant.

We hope that you decide to apply to UCI.

Please submit the following application materials in one packet (printed double sided on standard paper).

  • The APPIC application form (you do not need to include the Child and Adolescent Testing forms)
  • UCI supplemental questions (Adobe pdf format) (Please limit your response for both questions to one page total)
  • Current Vita
  • Official graduate transcripts (not copies)
  • Three letters of recommendation (at least one from a clinical supervisor)
  • Recommendations

Please note that your file will not be reviewed unless all application materials are postmarked by November 3, 2008. It is your responsibility to see that all of the above materials, including letters of recommendations, are postmarked by the deadline. Because of the large volume of applications, late applications will not be considered. If you have any questions about the status of your application, please call Pat Alford-Keating, Ph.D. at (949) 824-6457 or email her at palfordk@uci.edu
Thank you for your interest in the UCI Internship Program and best wishes to you in the next stage of your professional training.

Sincerely,

Pat Alford-Keating, Ph.D., ABPP
Interim Director of Training
